dell Optiplex 7010 usff, ubuntu 20.04

have tried several wifi dogles which are known to work, but on this computer, there are no wifi networks that show up regardless of which usb port i use.

 I used to be able to get online via an ethernet connection. I unplugged the cable once and have never been able to access the wifi network with an ethernet or usb adapter again.

I also booted the computer from an external drive with ubuntu 20.04, same result.

Is this a driver issue, or perhaps a wife card issue (the computer does not have native wifi) Can't find anything online concerning this issue.     And, the only wifi LWAN drivers are for windows....

So, I conclude there is something amiss with the hardware and drivers. Any ideas? Thanks Charles

It's driving me crazy, Only thing I can think of is some hardware trip. The ether net connection used to work until I unplugged the cable one day. When I plugged it back in it no longer worked. Actually the enable wifi doesn't show up on the menu, only the enable networking....

Sounds like your “network” settings” themselves got
messed up.. so if you know your right ip address’ and dns and
all that try setting it all manually and see if it doesn’t fix
