Is there anyone that has undergone or is considering a similar change? Is there perhaps a professional/commercial outfit in the area that might assist with something like this?

Hi there, My name is Laco and I'm a club member, even though I have not been attending the meetings. I am also a local business owner with a significant decision to make pretty soon. With the death of Windows 7 coming up quickly and my general disdain for Windows 10 I need to make a decision as to what to do with my business computers. Naturally I would like to convert to Linux, more specifically Arch Linux. However, before I do so, I'm looking for, maybe some conversion resources. It would seem to me that the first things to consider are:
What type of business software do you currently use?
What is the form of your historical files? (text, spread sheets, database, etc.)
Do you currently use a proprietary program to do your business?
Is there a Linux based program that would be usable in your business?
How much would it cost to continue in Windows, regardless of your opinion of Windows 10?
Would you have to pay for a rewrite of a proprietary program?
Are you at all familiar with Linux operating systems and how they work?
Linux is a very robust system and the basic operating system is free and relatively easy to install. However, if the business software you use (or a suitable substitute) is not available, there could be a considerable expense involved in developing one for your system. I strongly suspect that most of the business software for most businesses is available somewhere. Finding it and paying for it may not be easy. Replacing Windows Office is easy and free. Libre Office is a great alternative.
A lot of software written for Windows will work in a Linux window
(WINE), but a lot of it will not. You may have to pay a certified
Linux technician to set up your whole system.
All this may not be worth the conversion but, it will take some research. I highly recommend doing your homework before you jump into the abyss.
