[meeting notes] UBUNTU HOUR 2024-07-11

From Devi Garcia · Jul 12, 2024

  • Attendees: 7.

    Upcoming Events:

    • 27 August, CLUG Meeting, 1700-1800, Warrior Healing Center, main conference room, 1838 Paseo San Luis, Sierra Vista. The presentation will be on Kodi by Gene Zastera.
    • 12 September, Sierra Vista Ubuntu Hour, 1800-1900, Schlotzsky’s Cafe, 3900 Fry Blvd, Sierra Vista.

    Announcements:

    • To date we have donated 139 computers to individuals or groups and conducted 232 installs on laptops and desktops.

  • We have 30 people on our mailing list and 44 followers on our Facebook page.
  • We have 3 desktop computers and 2 laptop computers ready for distribution.

Discussion and Activities:

  • Discussed the addition of a second fiber optics Internet Provider in town which apparently will have lower prices than the current provider. Should be operational next year.

  • Discussed a possible project for members who are hardware geeks. We came into a laptop that was dropped and destroyed the ac adapter port. We have the new part but the repair will require disassembly and soldering. Anyone who wants to tackle it please contact Rex.

  • Discussed the successful installation of George’s printer. After many hours of research and trial and error he did it himself. Congratulations George.
