July Install fest
From Pasquale Aronna · Jul 17, 2020
Will Mint 20.0 be available to install at July meeting and how long to download? Read online it can take two hours.
Also will it a have network driver in driver manager, if not how does it connect?
I have Mint 19.3 and connected via ethernet cable and am okay with 19.3 ,so how long can 20.0 be available to download or when is it's expiration date to download it.
If it is available for awhile, I may decide to wait.
Thank you,
Pat Aronna

Pat,
I already have Linux Mint 20.0 downloaded and prepared on DVDs and flash drives. It is ready for installation. Mint 19.3 is supported for at least another three years. Mint 20 can be downloaded any time and will be supported for five years. Using a torrent it generally takes between 15 and 25 minutes to download depending upon your internet speed and how many other people are downloading at the same time. For your information, starting with Mint 20.0, Linux Mint will no longer support 32 bit machines.

I use Wine to run one program in Mint 19.3
If I upgrade to 20.0 will I have to reinstall Wine etc or will it automatically come along?
Or, for that matter will Wine work in Mint 20.0?
Thanks, Dan Thomas

If you do a fresh install of Linux Mint 20.0 you will have to
re-install WINE. If you do an upgrade to the new version it should
not affect anything that you have installed or your data. However,
you should notice that I said should. An upgrade from one version
to another has been known to brick a computer, or in other words
cause it to be inoperable, so it would require a bit of work to get
it going again (which is way above my pay grade.) I have attempted
5 version upgrades and only been successful once. Others have never
had a problem and upgrade their computers all the time without
problems. If you do an upgrade back up your data because you may
lose it during the upgrade. It is not supposed to happen but
remember Murphy's Law. As for the second part of your question, I
did a quick search and found this site:
