By default Ubuntu usually comes with hplib so most hp printers should work instantly... Brother is known to work good Rex has a Epson eco tank and that works no issues if anything look at your printer model your looking into and see if they offer printer drivers for Linux on the site usually they do if it's not supported instantly.

It's based on Ubuntu so yes 80-85% of distros are either Debian or Ubuntu based so it'll usually always work if it works for Ubuntu or similar

Mondays before noon is the best time.  The printer does require
ink cartridges as the installed ones are dry or empty.  You can
pick it up and check if it would connect to your home network.
