Hi

From Sharkscott · Apr 18, 2022

Hello to everyone. I am emailing the group because I want to ask for any help and/or advice from people with more experience than me.

My ranchmate Susan, who lives here with us she takes care of the chickens and rabbits, she has what I think is a microsoft surface that she can't log into, it was someone else's for a while, I offered to try and see what I could do..I'm still trying to just get it to boot into the BIOS ugh.

I looked some things up online but nothing seems to work. I am free to install Linux over the top of the device..if I can get too..that's why I figured I would ask for help.

I've tried the volume up button while pressing the power button and the volume down trying all kinds of combinations to no avail.

There’s many different surface devices some which can have Linux and some which are even more locked down yet which can’t even have anything but windows.. so without knowing which exact model of the surface you can’t just assume Linux is an option... surface devices aren’t actually computers.. they’re more so tablets... and the ones that do have Linux as an option from the GitHub install process I did see it’s a very advanced install procedure so isn’t as easy as make a usb drive and click install... this endeavor is going to need information and may need a lot of work if you really want to go through with it...
