Torrents are all based on Seeds and peers so so speeds will vary depending on many you can connect to and how they allow their upload speed to go and if you limit upload speed to low that also slows your download speed a lot and sometimes bans you depending on the tracker/clients/peers

You can decrease the time a torrent is
active by changing a few items in preferences.  Open Transmission

You can decrease the time a torrent is active by changing a few items in preferences.  Open Transmission and select Edit from the horizontal menu.  A new page will open.  Then select Seeding.  Change the value of Stop seeding at ratio to 0.05.  Also change Stop seeding if idle for N minutes to 1.  That will give you a shorter time.
