Both of these use the "HEVC" encoder... which Tommy uses the older trusted x264 encoder (codec) that is supported on more devices with playback support but HEVC does use much less if your end goal is compression.. and you use it right.. HEVC is also the codec that's used on 4K blurays currently so its not going away anytime soon so its only maturing as time goes on.. most of my current library is in HEVC encoded files...
