Use of the Group Mailing List

We do not want to discourage members from using the mailing list to seek
assistance in solving a problem that has popped up on their Linux
computer. As a matter of fact we would like to encourage them to do
so. However, the proper procedure would be to start your own thread and
fully explain what the problem is and the facts surrounding it. No one
will deride you because you deleted a needed file or made some other
mistake that caused your computer to go haywire. One of the goals of
our organization is to provide assistance to other Linux users in the
county. If all of the responses are in one location followed by the
eventual solution, anyone reading the emails can see how to fix the same
problem as well as what didn't work. They will not have to look at a
rash of emails perhaps scattered all over the place. Please do not
reply to another's email to announce your problem. Start your own
thread. That being said, how does one start a new thread. Merely send
an email to the mailing list, cochiselinux@freelists.org. That will
send the email to everyone on the mailing list. Have patience. Many of
the subscribers to the mailing list work and have a family life. This
is a volunteer organization so do not be upset if you do not receive an
immediate response. Of course it would be better to bring your computer
to a CLUG meeting but often that is not possible because problems always
seem to arise in between meetings. For the time being the Cochise Linux User Group web site,
http://cochiselinux.com/index.html, is experiencing a problem. Until
further notice the group website can be reached at
http://cochiselinuxusersgroup.github.io/. Hopefully this is only
temporary. All of the information is still there and can be viewed
there until we solve the problem with the other URL. Thank you for your
