Is software breaking because of the kernel or the DE? Sometimes updates crash because the repositories are outdated. In other cases working software applications break when opening. Is it generally the kernel that needs adjustment, more so than a software application?

When comes to cachyos it's arch... So your basically running running everything as update to date as possible.. and depending on if you installed it from main repo or the AUR they're may have been some news comments explaining why the newest update could have caused an crash and you would need to revert an upgrade... This is just an issue you have to learn to deal with when using a rolling release type distribution...

These are why people don't recommend Arch or Debian sid or the opensuse rolling release version..
