pdf to md

From Laco K · Sep 10, 2024

hi guys,

been trying to find a way to convert a pdf to markdown. I've installed pandoc but I'm getting nowhere due to errors. Apparently, pdfs are 'too complex' and the 'use of external tools may need to be employed' to make them convertible. I know there are online convertors, which I haven't tried but my preference is to keep files local.

Any suggestions would be great.

thx

L

What are you trying to accomplish? Editing? Reading? Being able to create a program read the contents of a PDF file?

nothing immediate; I've been messing around with Obsidian. I've imported a pdf and even though there are supposed to be ocr and pdf recognition plugins, I haven't found a good one yet. So I thought, maybe converting a pdf to md would be more useful/easier (for search purposes).

thx

Just FYI, new PDF editing capabilities within Firefox.

Edit PDFs for free with Firefox PDF Editor

Edit PDFs for free with Firefox PDF Editor

View and edit PDF files right in Firefox.

I hope this helps. Cheers!
