[meeting notes] Ubuntu Hour 2025-08-14
From Devi Garcia · Aug 14, 2025
Attendees: 6
Upcoming Events:
26 August, CLUG Meeting, 1700-1830, Warrior Healing Center main conference room, Sierra Vista.
11 September, Sierra Vista Ubuntu Hour, 1800-1900, Schlotzsky’s Cafe, 3900 Fry Blvd, Sierra Vista.
Announcements:
To date we have donated 192 computers to individuals or groups
and conducted 297 installs on laptops and desktops.
We have 35 people on our mailing list and 53 members on our Facebook page.
We have 3 desktop computers and 6 laptop computers ready for donation.
Discussion and Activities:
Discussed a WiFi problem with a Dell laptop that has a Broadcom BCM43 chip. The solution can be found at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx
Discussed a search problem that a member was having. Provided him with a possible solution using the wild card *.
Bruce A will be leaving us for Okinawa on 1 September. He has a brand new Canon TS 3288 ink jet printer that works well with Linux distros. He is willing to sell it for $50. If interested please respond on the mailing list. Thanks for all of your input Bruce. We are all sorry to see you leave.
Discussed a new format for the monthly meetings. Since we have always had a good turnout at our workshops and we have not had one for a while, we will changing one of our meetings every quarter into a Linux Workshop. So each quarter we will have a regular meeting, a dinner meeting (where spouses are cordially invited to attend), and a Linux workshop (where people can bring in their equipment and have problems solved). The first one of the workshops will take place in September at the Warrior Healing Center main conference room.
Since there were not sufficient people present the discussion on moving the Ubuntu Hour to a new location was tabled until the next meeting.

Looking for a magenta 251 XL cartridge for my canon mx922 printer. Mine ñ does not work properly and all colors must be loaded for printer to work even when printing in just black/white.
My magenta cartridge does not stay attached after I clip it on the ink bar. I may have to do a Mac Giever rubber band trick or some other workaround (ho-ho).
Have a good day...George

Hi, I'll still be online and will be as active as I can be. I'm usually on Discord, where CLUG has a new server, so if I can be of any help, just ask.

Does that Canon inkjet printer take card stock on paper deed, & what are largest paper feed dimensions? (I require minimum of about 9.5” x 12” for paperback book covers.)
