Read the article Charles and do your research. CryptPad is not associated with Google and is only offered as an alternative to Google Docs. It was developed by a French company and is apparently owned by its employees. You are the one that knows the encryption key and not the company server. Your documents can even be deleted after a period of time (designated by you). However the free application is limited to 50 MBs (which has been upped to 1 GB during the pandemic). If you need more you can pay for it. If you are overly concerned about security and require on line input from co-workers for a document (spreadsheet, presentation, etc), this may be for you. If not don't worry about it.
