win 10 iso for virtualbox on mint
From George Praggastis · Jul 04, 2026
Rex/Devi do you have this iso i can use to load into virtualbox. I need win to complete a voip device activation (magicjack).
I have no win license so I prob cannot download from MS. I think even a win educational flavour will be ok for me.
My virtualbox install worked fine (i think). I did not install win extension pack and will assign min resources to vm (prob 1-2 gb ram and 50 gb torage)
Have a good day...George

If you go to the Microsoft website and try to download the ISO or make a USB drive, there should be links to just download the actual ISO file itself and not the pre-made USB Maker tool. And once you verify the link once or twice, it will allow you to download any version of Windows you want language wise and you can just add it on ventoy or whatever USB maker you want to.

Can I not just download an accessable copy of iso source file and point Vbox to this file and let Vbox convert source into a bootable version/VM. Accessability is my issue.
Have a good day...George

You could use an iso you acquired and install it via VM it doesn't really "mount" it it full installs it on virtual media.. due note current windows requires all updates to do be done first and requires a Microsoft account to use it...
Alternatives are Windows PE which is a bootable media of windows for repairing broken machines but should work well enough for any windows based tasks..
Doing it in Linux also Winboat or other Windows docker versions which skips the need for virtual machine software and just access it via a webserver locally hosted..
