Kiosk Project
From Rex Bouwense · Jul 28, 2023
I would ask anyone who is interested in participating in the project to
meet with me at the Warrior Healing Center on Wednesday 02 August at
1000. Please do a bit of research on Kiosk computers prior to the
meeting so we can discuss which way we want to go. We already have a
computer for the prototype so I do not believe that hardwear will be a
problem. There appears to be several ways to approach and this is what
I want to discuss. Thanks. Rex --------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know if I will be able to make it to the Tues meeting. I am on tap for transporting a friend to/from surgery on Tues morning, and depending on what time his surgery is scheduled for, will determine my participation.
I have been looking at Kiosk software and found a likely candidate. It's Linux based, free, open source, locked down, etc.

I'll keep on gathering info.

I also saw the porteus-kiosk package. It looks a great solution, since
the image on the hard drive is an iso, which prevents miscreants from
modifying the base image (or at least makes it much more difficult.) It's probably better to start with an image designed for this purpose,
than to try and figure out what can be removed from a standard Ubuntu to
get to the same point. David On 7/30/23 08:41, Gene Zastera wrote:

currently looking at a Ubuntu option, but this is something we can talk

One more contribution. Use Ubuntu as OS running on a virtual machine. Probably what Rex is looking into.

If I come up with any other alternatives, I'll post them.
