One thing the article fails to mention is that if the device you want to install Ubuntu on is newer and hence more valuable, you should back it up.  If something goes wrong, or you decide Ubuntu on this device is not to your liking, you need a way to get back to the original state of the device.  The article briefly mentions this, and provides a link to the "stock" ROM, but that doesn't get your data back.

Backing up the device includes the firmware, and is non-trivial.  First you have to root the device.  Then you have to install some sort of backup (like Titanium, CW, or similar).  Or you have to root and use ADB.  Each one of these things is complicated, and takes quite a bit of time to become proficient with it's use.   And after you start using the above software, you may discover that the youtube video you watched, left out a few steps.  Been there - done that.  People who make the videos just assume that you are familiar with the process and will be able to fill in the steps that they left out.

Now that I have had my soapbox rant and rave, I say thank you again.  The article did have some useful information.
