Thank you for your note. Unfortunately, the Cochise Linux group is no longer active. We have not met (virtually or in real life) in many years. I am an advocate for Linux and use Ubuntu on one of my laptops at home, but there is no longer an active group here.

Well, there is a movement among those of us that reside in Sierra Vista and Cochise County to revive it or create another.  If you are interested I will include you in future correspondence.  Right now we are hosting a Ubuntu Hour once a month (4th Thursday from 6-7 pm) at Schlotzsky's Cafe on Fry Blvd.

Re: Cochise County Linux users

From Jeff Denton · Jul 28, 2015

I haven't lived in Arizona for a long time. After I left, I couldn't
find anyone interested in taking over the LUG.

I let the cochiselinux.org / .net / .com domains expire back in 2008.
Someone bought the domains later. They resurrected the website by
puling a copy from the WayBack Machine. I contacted the new owner and
asked them if this was a new form of cyber squatting. They said no,
they liked the old website. I asked them to add a new post to the
front page letting everyone know the LUG was no longer active. That
didn't happen.

I'm still the owner / administrator / moderator of the mailing list.
Again, only because I haven't found anyone interesting in taking over.

If someone wants to resurrect Coshiselinux, they will have to contact
the owner of the domains and ask them if they are willing to sell.
Look at the whois information to get contact information.

As for the mailing list, I can give ownership and administrative
access to whoever is interested.

Jeff

http://jesusfilmmedia.org/art when possible in the LUG, and mmiss it now
that it isn't happening. But I'm gone (missionary work) six months out of
the year or more, so I can't do much with it. CraigsList has a discussion
section for local linux users in the Sierra Vista area. It might be that
if you post there, you'll find someone who can do what you suggest.

Jeeff, I'm losing this domain (hisfeet.net). It's become completely
unreliable, so I'm not going to pay for it another year, and it is due in
aa few days.

Since you are the "in charge" of the coshiselinux Lug mailing list, would
you do me the favor of changing my address there, so that whoever takes it
over will be able to connect with me and let me know what's going on?

My new address is: davenella@outlook.com

Thanks, Dave

Dave,

One of the limitations of managing the mailing-list is I am not able
to subscribe or change the email address of users. I can unsubscribe
users and change a few user options, but that's about it. You'll have
to unsubscribe and subscribe with the new email address yourself.

You can change your subscription settings on this page.
