Last kernel upgrade | NO BOOT

Greetings CLUG wrenches:
The most recent upgrade on the last remaining Ubuntu (octopus) machine (Toshiba satellite) on my LAN, following the reboot, resulted in a kernel panic. Haven’t seen one of those in a while.
Luckily the grub menu provided an option to boot with the previous kernel. Here’s that stable version:

Recent attempt to upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04 created instability for my old first generation i5 m850 (vintage, old, approx 2010 ish) laptop. The system booted and within minutes of log on the system froze / halted in place. It just stopped. I was able to repeat this several times with no real resolution to continue.
I ended up migrating the system to Linux Mint and things are moving along nicely. So there is some issue with older hardware. I suspect something to do with the older integrated graphics not supporting the newer code.
No issues running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on contemporary systems.

I haven’t done any updating of this machine yet, trying to allow ample time for it to get patched.
So I was wondering if anyone had experienced any weirdness with the latest kernel update on their respective distros.
