CLUG Monthly Meeting

From Rex Bouwense · Jul 18, 2021

The Cochise Linux User Group will conduct its monthly meeting at 143 Street Tacos, 80 S. Carmichael St., Sierra Vista AZ at 1300-1500 24 July 2021.  All are welcome so bring a family member, a friend, or a co-worker to introduce them to Linux.  Street Tacos serves arguably the best tacos in Sierra Vista and possibly Southern Arizona so come early and enjoy some excellent food or eat during or after the meeting.  If you have a question or a problem be sure and raise it at the meeting at we will attempt to solve it for you before the end of the meeting.  There will be a presentation on some additional terminal commands, specifically how to change permissions and ownership of files and directories.  We will also be discussing the possibility of changing the time and/or date of our monthly meetings in an effort to increase the attendance.  Your input is encouraged.

About 2 weeks ago you sent me an email about 2 laptop batteries that you had for me.  For some reason it went to my spam folder.  I didn’t see the message until now.

If you still have them, bring them to tonight’s meeting.

Thanks

All

At the monthly meeting, I finally got an answer to my problem with VLC player.

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks to Rex, Devi, Rose, Noah, Tommy, Greg (and anybody I missed).

Bottom line is that I somehow improperly (or incompletely)  installed VLC on Ubuntu. I’m still not sure exactly how that happened.

Did I mention how nice it is to be able to set the size of the VLC mouse pointer?  It’s now much easier to spot a big one as opposed to the dinky little one that comes standard.

Perhaps it wouldn’t be much of an issue to those who have really good vision, but it was a real aggravation to those of us with impaired vision.

Thanks again to all who participated in the troubleshooting.
