Legacy IDE Driver Now Deprecated, To Be Removed From Linux In 2021
From Devi Garcia · May 09, 2019
The Linux kernel's legacy IDE driver has been officially deprecated as
of Linux 5.2 and is expected to be removed entirely in 2021. Christoph Hellwig and David Miller went ahead with officially
deprecating the legacy IDE driver in the Linux kernel. With Linux
5.2+, a warning will now be emitted on registering IDE hosts using
this driver over the deprecation. https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Linux-Legacy-IDE-Deprecated
