Candidate Clug presentation

From George Praggastis · Apr 10, 2021

Rex, I have researched the DVD video lectures I have that might be of interest to the CLUG group.  The best choices are 1. cellular phone technology and 2. satellite and satellite communications. I think the satelite one is more interesting (note that neither lecture relates directly to Linux). The Information Science lectures I originally suggested are not appropriate because prerequisite lectures are needed to make any sense of them.

My Dell Latitude laptop does not recognize the DVD drive (???why I don't know). I will try to access my online video account nxt time I'm at Street Taco.  If not successful or connection is too slow, I will need to use someone's computer having a working DVD drive. I also need a display system to project the computer's screen onto a wall.

George, thanks for checking, however I am not sure that either of those choices would be of interest to the group since they are not Linux or FOSS related.  With regard to your laptop DVD drive not working, the group does have access to about a half dozen used but functioning laptop DVD reader/writer drives.  We would have to take a look at what you have, what would fit, and the compatibility.

ok rex let me know if you change your mind about the satellite 30 min lecture (i have figured out how to play it from a flash drive by using VLC instead of Celluloid). Will appreciate any help to get my cdrom working or replaced. I did a lshw cmd and it seems that linux Mint does at least recognize the device opening and closing?
