[link] PiHole on an Synology NAS via Docker

this was more of a personal thing because I run quite a few things off my own Synology NAS (DS1815+ w/ 16gb RAM) via docker.. two download clients.. a ebook/manga/comic book server… and now a pihole server…
for anyone who doesn’t quite know what pihole is or does.. it’s a small application/distro for an RaspberriPi originally.. to basically act as your house’s DNS and/or DHCP server to filter our Ads.. I currently have almost 800,000 urls blocked through my NAS. I didn’t want to buy another device to do this.. since I paid quite a bit for my NAS to begin with.. and docker can do this .. as well as Unraid/Proxmox or any of the many other NAS/Hypervisor things out there.
This is just kind of an email to say you don’t always need a device for EVERY single service.. as I have a one single NAS running multiple Docker containers (VMs) as well as serving all of my files.. as well as the link to how to set up pihole on a synology device given any of you may have one and want to setup router based adblocking for every device on your network..
