   I have an ancient netbook (Dell Mini-9 with an Atom N270 CPU) that originally had only 1G of RAM and an 8G SSD.  I later upgraded it to 2G RAM and a 32G SSD and ran Windows XP on it for a few years. But it has sat on a shelf unused since XP extended support ended 6 years ago.  Is there a Linux release that will run on this platform?  Or would attempting this just be a a frustrating learning experience?
    I would like to get familiar with the OS again (I loaded a version of Red Hat about 20 years ago but never did much with it).  I plan to retire within the next year and will then be free to cut the (Army) Windows cord.   This experiment would be just dipping my toe in the water again before jumping in with both feet.    I just am not in position to experiment with either of my other computers  at this point (I got rid of my other ancient hardware last year during spring cleaning - this one just was hidden away and was missed).

Lubuntu 18.04 and Bodhi 5.0 still have 32 bit versions.  Another distro that will probably run on it is Trisquel 8.0 mini.  It also still has a 32 bit version.  You could try all three and see which you prefer.
