I'm taking a moment to share some recent and past experience regarding video media playback challenges. One of the challenges I've dealt with has been occasional video playback failures. This is mainly with news media outlets where there are programmed redirections prior to play the content. Example: some play ads or direct you to some login portal before playing the content. This presents a challenge on some systems where the video media will not play. You may get an empty frame that just sits there. You may also get video playback that is jittery or stutters. Here is something that could improve your situation.

Through investigations and experimentation I've determined a workable resolution which is somewhat easy to do. Browsers such as Firefox have a setting which allows you to "disable" hardware acceleration. Doing this will often allow the video content to play.

While I don't quite fully understand the mechanisms involved, I am grateful to be able to play the video media content. So if you are experiencing some of these video playback challenges then here is an option to a way forward.

Note: In Firefox you can modify this through Settings > General > Performance > You'll need to uncheck "Use recommended performance settings". Then the option for disabling hardware acceleration will be made visible.
