Comunity Projects Update:

• The next Installfest is scheduled for 28 October 2017 1000-1600 at the UA South Learning Resource Center.
• We now have upgraded install media for Ubuntu 16.04.3 and Linux Mint 18.2 that is fully functional.

Recent Linux/FOSS News Items:

• Ubuntu 16.04.3 has been released on 3 August as has all of the Ubuntu “flavors”.

Discussion:

• We discussed how to use dd and the commands that you would enter into the terminal to start the copy and to get a progress report.
• We discussed swap and how to determine your computer’s swappiness and how to reduce it making it run faster.
• We discussed the pros and cons of upgrading your computer versus doing a fresh install.

Aftermath:

• We adjourned to Peter Piper Pizza to continue our discussion and enjoy some pizza and soda.
